I used Leica M3, M4/2, M4/P and M6 35mm rangefinder cameras professionally for two decades, so have some good experiences with them. Like most manual cameras they're simple to use and extremely reliable under all situations from weddings to wars. For years I also used a Leica IIIf RD/DA for pleasure... but, the sale of those fine cameras did not end a love affair ~ so if you're a similar type you could link with "Ed Buziak / Fotoformat" on Facebook.
Beauty becomes the beast!Leica M camera with 70-180mm Elmarit-R lens.
A Leica M (especially the venerable M3) is a thing of beauty… whereas this set-up has turned the latest rendering of that camera into a beast, judging by the look of it. No doubt it will satisfy some (a very few?) photographers’ needs to connect their R-type lenses to their M-type body. However, the two were never meant to be mixed and the attempt to do so must surely be a compromise.
